What exactly is the second skin design?
Heband is designed to fit snugly to your head. The matte exterior combined with the tight fit and a little shaving cream allows any shaving razor to glide smoothly down the band and across your neck. We have taken what a safety razor is designed to do (cut your hair and not your skin) and simply applied it to a neck shaving jig.
One-size-fits-all… really?
It sounds too good to be true, we know. However, the human head ranges between 54 - 64 cm in circumference which is a wide range when it comes to hats and helmets, but not when it comes to a stretchy latex band. We have found the perfect size to ensure it will fit heads of all shapes and sizes.
Does it work for any style of haircut?
The short answer is YES.
For shorter hair and fades, our bands couldn’t be easier. Simply establish where you want your neckline, line it up using your ears, and away you go. It will keep the dust off your neck till you can get back to the barber.
Longer hair can be a bit more complicated but just as effective. You will just need to draw the band up from the bottom of your neck so you can tuck the hair you do not want to cut under the band. This makes it perfect for someone wanting to grow their hair out while keeping things tidy and presentable. Use it to help keep that undercut tight too.
Can I use my electric trimmer too?
You sure can! Say you don’t want to completely shave your neck but want to take it down a notch with your trimmers that is no problem. Start by putting your band on as well as the appropriate guard. Cut the hair in an upward motion and when the trimmer meets the band simply angle the trimmer back so it travels over the band.
The only warning we will give is this….. If you are using no guard just be careful not to force the trimmer into the band. If you get it at the right angle you can cut the band if you're not careful. This can be easily avoided with proper use and a couple of mirrors but has been known to happen. If this does happen to you let us know and we will send your first replacement free.

If you like a simple buzz, Heband is there to quickly finish off that neckline. This gives the buzzcut a little extra to help it look more professional and finished. If you want to try your hand fading from home Heband will help ensure you keep the back straight. Just keep raising it as you go up in guard sizes. Once you get too high it will just pop off the top and that will be the end of Heband assistant.
Will I feel stupid wearing a rubber headband?
Probably! However, this feeling will dissipate as you save money, look better and realize you’re in a bathroom by yourself.
How do you ensure a straight cut?
This is another area we shine in. We all have a unique inner ear shape with lots of curves and reference points. With Heband you just make sure the bottom of the band crosses both ears in the same spot by looking at what part of your inner ear it crosses. Hope that makes sense? You can even play with the curve a bit as the shiny interior finish will help it stick to your neck.
Once you have found a spot you like feel free to mark the band with a sharpie where it crosses the ear. We find the top of the ear works best for us.
