Alright, let’s get our fade on.

It can be nice to establish your neckline first, but is not necessary and can be done afterwards.

Put your Heband on as shown to establish your shortest length in the back.

Using your ears and eyebrows, ensure the bottom of the band lines up in the same spot on both sides. The placement is up to you and your desired haircut.

Have a look at the back to ensure things are even.

This may require a few micro adjustments, but you will be surprised at how easily things tend to line up.

Using your clippers trim everything below the band in an upward motion.

Slightly angle the clippers back as they approach the band allowing the clippers to travel up and over the band. There is no need to worry about nicking the band.

With the same guard trim the sides to the desired height.

This is done freehand and does require some attention to detail.

Next, repeat what you just did but moving up a guard size.

Looks good, here we did the sides again.

After a couple different guard lengths you will use the half guards and or the open close lever to fade the lines.

This will take some practice, though you will only get better in time.

Depending on your end goal you will eventually reach a point where the band will just pop off the top of your head.

Sorry, but this is the end of the line for Heband assistance.

Though you will never beat a great barber cut.

Heband can get you pretty close.
